Chapter Games & Competitions
2009 - Chapter "M" Long Rider Competition Have you had enough of just commuting to work and short
weekend rides. Well, it is time to get on the road and put some
SERIOUS miles on your Wing! The Chapter member who puts the
highest number of miles on his/her Gold Wing during the 2009 riding season
will be recognized as the Chapter's very first LONG RIDER. At
the end of the year, we reward the chapter member who rode the most miles
with a great prize and 15 minutes of fame (the winner will be featured in
the Chapter newsletter and on our Web site). But when all is said
and done, it's not a matter of whether you win or lose (besides, how can
you lose?), it's how you play the game: by touring the country on your
Gold Wing. Here's how it works: Have your bike's odometer reading recorded and
certified as soon as possible in 2009 by one of the Chapter Officers.
That can be done at a Chapter meeting, dinner ride, or any other
officially sanctioned Chapter ride. Obviously, the sooner you get
the odometer certified the more miles you will be able to "rack up." Your bike's ending odometer reading and total mileage
will be recorded and certified at the end of the Chapter's final
"official" ride or Chapter meeting in 2009. That final
"official" end will be so designated later in 2009 depending on weather
and riding conditions. One rider may use more than one bike throughout the
year, but all of his/her motorcycle odometers must be recorded and
certified in order for the total mileage from multiple motorcycles to
count. Beginning certification must be done as described above. If you sell your bike and buy a new one during the
riding season, have a Chapter Officer certify your bike's ending odometer
reading prior to getting rid of the bike, and the beginning odometer
reading of your new bike. That way, you will get credit for all of
the miles you ride on both motorcycles. Since this will be
relatively rare, we can make "house calls" if necessary. IN THE INTEREST OF FAIRNESS, NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE
TO THE PRECEDING RULES. In the event of a tie, a drawing will be
held. Running your motorcycle on the center stand in your garage
will result in immediate disqualification, but you will be given a free
pass to the Utah State Hospital. Decision of the judges is final. HAVE FUN AND RIDE SAFELY
